Along with three ethnic nationalities’ organizations, the Karenni-American Association’s secretary had a roundtable meeting with the newly appointed U.S ambassador to Burma, Mr. Scot Marciel on February 22, 2016 at the state department of East Asia-Pacific Affairs in Washington DC.
KnA’s secretary with three ethnic representatives from Kachin, Shan, and Mon also drafted a collective statement in requesting the new ambassador to pay attention on Nationwide ceasefire issue, drug/opium production in Kachin & Shan states. Continue to pay attention on refugees and Internally Displaced Peoples issues. Support ethnic national civil organizations in capacity building projects. Maintain sanction on military/armed embargo toward the military.
